How to start a private conversation

One of the features of Ludophiles.com is that you can have a private conversation with someone and doing so is very simple, but we wanted to show you how to do it anyway.

There are numerous ways to start a conversation.

Starting a conversation from the inbox

The first is by hovering over the Inbox link on the top right of the page (right next to your name). This will show a drop down menu where you will see a 'Start a New Conversation' link

By clicking that link you get the private conversation screen.

Type the names of the people you want to start the conversation with in the 'Participants' box. This has an auto fill function, so it will look in the user database for a user that has the same letters as the ones you have typed already, so it makes them easy to find.

Type the conversation title and the message you want to send and add an image or other file if you want to, either by clicking the 'Upload a File' button, or by dragging the file from you computer into the message box.

Click preview to see if everything is according to you wishes and if so click the 'Start a Conversation' button to send the message.

Starting a conversation from a user's profile panel or from a post

Another way of starting a private conversation is by clicking the 'Start a Conversation' link below each post or below each avatar of one of the users

This will give you a little different conversation screen that gets info from the post where the link you clicked was on. For example one participant is already filled in (but you can add more if needed). It also quotes the post and adds the title of the thread as the subject of the conversation (all of which you can change if you want to do so).

You can not add a file to this conversation, so once the message is done, click the 'Start a Conversation' button to send the message.

When someone started a private conversation with you, you will see a red indicator near the inbox link on the top of your screen. By default there is also an email send to the email address you used to sign up to this forum.

Replying to a private conversation works in the same way as posting a regular post on the forum and you can do the same things.

Starting a conversation from a user popup box

On various location on the forum you can click on a users name and a user popup box will appear. Here too you will find a 'Start a Conversation' button. Clicking that will start a conversation with the same options as described above.
